
Stop Waiting for Your Ovens to Catch Up
Nothing kills a production schedule faster than waiting for an oven to get back up to temperature between batches. If you’re relying on standard heating elements or just convection, you’ve probably felt that bottleneck. It’s frustrating. You’ve got dough ready to go, but your equipment is just lagging. That’s why we use twin-tube infrared bulbs. Think of them as a shot of adrenaline for your oven. Instead of trying to heat up all the air in the chamber, these bulbs blast thermal energy directly into the surface of the bread. It cuts the cycle time down significantly. How the twin-tube setup actually works Here’s the thing: we basically doubled the radiating surface area without taking up any more room. By putting two filaments inside one quartz tube, we get way more wattage per millimeter. It’s shortwave IR. This means the heat doesn’t just float around the oven—it penetrates the dough almost instantly. You hit your target temperatures faster, and you don’t have to build a bigger oven to do it. The gear under the hood We build these with high-purity quartz and fill them with halogen gas. Why? Because without that gas, the tungsten filament evaporates, the tube turns dark, and your heat output drops. The halogen cycle keeps things bright and steady for thousands of hours. We also don’t mess around with the connectors. We use heavy-duty R7s or SK15 plugs. Quartz expands when it gets hot, and cheap connectors loosen up. Once that happens, you get arcing, and then you’ve got a dead bulb. These connectors stay tight. Real talk: Installing them on the floor For most of you, these are just a drop-in replacement for your auxiliary heating slots. It’s a simple swap. You’ll notice a much harder “kick” during that initial oven spring, which is exactly what you want for a great loaf. But a heads-up: these things are powerful. You’ll need to tweak your PID controllers. If you just crank the wattage without adjusting your timing, you’re going to scorch the crust before the middle is even cooked. Also, double-check your wiring. Make sure it can handle the peak current, or you’ll be replacing burnt-out terminals sooner than you’d like.
